6-ingredient Choc Protein Slice

With just 6 ingredients and 5 minutes' prep, it's never been easier to make your own high-protein bars at home. With Dan's slice recipe, you're in control – meaning you'll get none of the nasties hiding in pre-packaged bars.

1⁄3 large egg
1⁄8 cup (25g) almond butter (or other nut butter)
1⁄3 tbs maple syrup (honey or rice malt syrup)
1⁄8 cup (16 2⁄3g) rolled oats (or brown rice flakes or quinoa flakes if gluten free)
1⁄8 cup (10g) vanilla protein powder (or natural protein powder)
1⁄8 cup (6 2⁄3g) 70% dark chocolate melts (or dairy-free alternative)
Preheat oven to 175°C/fan 155°C/gas 3 and line a 20 x 20cm baking tin with baking paper.
Whisk eggs, almond butter and maple syrup together until combined.
Stir through oats and protein powder.
Spread mixture evenly into prepared tin and bake for 15-20 minutes or until firm on top. Allow to cool fully.
Melt chocolate pieces in the microwave in 30 second intervals (or in a bowl over a saucepan with a small amount of simmering water) stirring until just melted.
Use a fork to drizzle over slice and allow to set, before cutting into even squares or bars.
