9 mocktails so good you’ll forget about booze
Don’t be fooled by the name: mocktails are no longer something to be mocked.
More and more people are looking for alternatives to alcohol and a well-crafted mocktail is a surefire way to scratch the itch, whether you’re cutting back, cutting out or simply need a night off the booze.
To keep you from feeling like a kid at the adults’ table, we’ve put together a few of our favorite mocktail recipes – virgin takes on classic cocktails and a few of our own creations – calling for fresh, whole ingredients while avoiding added sugars. They’re a little fancy, sure, but they’re also healthy, so feel free to drink irresponsibly.
1. Hydrating Strawberry Virgin Daiquiri
Electrolyte-packed coconut water is nature’s sports drink. Add it to your virgin strawberry daiquiri for a replenishing mocktail that looks as good as it tastes.
2. Passionfruit & Ginger No-jito
Transport yourself to a Cuban summer with this refreshing mocktail combining mint, passionfruit and ginger.
3. Virgin Spicy Margarita
A spicy margarita is the backbone of any night out and this virgin mocktail is just as drinkable (and spicy) as the original. Don’t forget your dancing shoes.
4. Dan’s Paloma Mocktail
Don’t tell margarita, but the paloma – in all its sweet, sour and grapefruit-y goodness – is Mexico’s national aperitif. And if you can’t choose between the two? Um, por que no los dos?
5. Fresh Ginger Mule Mocktail
Switch ginger beer with fresh ginger and soda water for a mule mocktail that’s low in sugar and calories and, best of all, won’t kick you sideways come morning.
6. Morning Recovery
Feeling a little worse for wear? The tomato juice in this healthy mocktail contains lycopene, a powerful antioxidant that protects cells and is good for both the heart and skin. And the bonus corn chips should have you back on track in no time.
7. Blueberry Super Spritzer
Wondering what makes this spritzer so super? Blueberries are packed full of antioxidants and have been shown to help with exercise recovery and brain and heart health. In other words: you can drink as many as you like.
8. Raspberry Gin-less Fizz
A classy mocktail for every occasion, this gin-less fizz makes use of muddled raspberries, which are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, high levels of fiber and cell-protecting antioxidants.
9. Passion & Pineapple Crush
This fruit-filled mocktail is chock-full of immunity-boosting vitamin C and tastes like a tropical vacation. Pair with a Hawaiian shirt for the ultimate combination of passion and fashion.
